A Bay Area bicyclist is resting well after entering the record books this weekend.
Craig Cannon spent the weekend in Orinda's Tilden Regional Park, breaking the world ascension record. The Oakland man climbed 95,622 feet in 48 hours, surpassing the old record of 95,452 feet.
Cannon said the idea to break the record started after he rode the height of Mount Everest and realized he still wasn't tired.
“I finished the ride in 13 or 14 hours and I still felt good, so I thought maybe I can do something longer,” Cannon said.
One more note: Before his record-breaking attempt, Cannon ran 13.1 miles, a half-marathon.
