Most Wanted Tip Credited to TV Show

San Diego has been a fugitive for eight years. He is wanted for the bombings of Chiron and Shaklee.

The Boston branch of the FBI held a news conference Wednesday to announce a key development in the case of a 2003 bomber that struck in both Emeryville and Pleasanton.

Daniel Andreas San Diego is on the FBI's "Most Wanted Terrorist" list and has been a FBI domestic terrorist fugitive since 2003.

The FBI said a tip from the show "Amerca's Most Wanted" came into their San Francisco office. The FBI has since declared that tip credible.  They would not say exactly when the tip came in other then to say it was a "recent" tip.

Tips can remain confidential and should be made to the San Francisco office at 415-553-7400. The FBI is offering a reward for up to $250,000 for information leading directly to the arrest of San Diego.  The reward can be paid confidentially.

Agents said Wednesday they believe San Diego might in the Northampton area of Massachusetts.

On August 28, 2003, two bombs exploded approximately one hour apart on the campus of a  biotechnology corporation in Emeryville. Then, on September 26, 2003, one bomb strapped with nails exploded at a nutritional products corporation in Pleasanton. San Diego was indicted in the United States District Court, Northern District of California, in July of 2004.

The FBI said at the time of his disappearance, San Diego ate neither meat nor any food containing animal products.  They said If he has maintained that discipline, people around him may notice that he avoids consuming or wearing anything made with animal.

He is also heavily tattooed, but the FBI said Wednesday the tattoos may have been altered.

San Diego tattoos

The original tattoos include a round image of burning hillsides in the center of his chest with the words "It only takes a spark" printed in a semicircle below; burning and collapsing buildings on the sides of his abdomen and back; and a single leafless tree rising from a road in the center of his lower back. The FBI said because of the unique nature of the tattoos, San Diego may be reluctant to remove his shirt, even in situations where it is the norm.

He worked at the Marin County office of In Defense of Animals, an animal-rights organization, and was a networks operations specialist at Critical Path, a wireless software company in San Francisco, according to AP.

San Diego was added to the FBI's "Most Wanted Terrorists" list in 2009. He became the first suspected domestic terrorist and second American added to the list. He was  indicted in U.S. District Court, Northern District of California in July 2004.
