Coroner ID's 20-Year-Old Milpitas Man in San Jose Fatal Accident

The Santa Clara County medical examiner has identified a 20-year-old Milpitas man who died Saturday night in San Jose.

Daniel Nhan died after being struck by two vehicles as he was walking on Interstate Highway 280, according to the medical examiner's office and the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded at 11:10 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian on northbound I-280, just north of U.S. Highway 101, CHP officials said.

A 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2003 Honda Accord collided with the man, according to the CHP. The driver of both vehicles stopped and cooperated with officers.

Neither driver suffered any injuries, CHP officials said. Why the man was walking on the highway is not clear to investigators, who are awaiting toxicology results to see whether drugs or alcohol contributed to his death.
