Danville Teacher Invites Will Ferrell to High School Prom (Again)

Although Chad Cochran’s first YouTube video generated a lot of buzz online, it didn’t get the response he was looking for – a response from Ferrell.

San Ramon Valley High School teacher Chad Cochran doesn’t want to give up.

Cochran, who embarked on a mission in early March to get Will Ferrell to attend his school’s senior prom as a co-chaperone, went on YouTube once again to woo the actor.

Although Cochran’s first YouTube video generated a lot of buzz online, it didn’t get the response he was looking for – a response from Ferrell.

Promises of chocolate fountains, photo booths and a boutonniere from a chain grocery store filled Cochran’s first YouTube video. This time, he got his students to back him.

“Dear Mr. Ferrell, my name is Chad Cochran. You might remember me from such Internet videos as when I asked you to chaperone the ball with me,” Cochran says in the opening scene. “Since I haven’t gotten a response I thought I’d take you around campus and show you how much support there is.”

Cochran then goes around the campus asking students what they thought about the idea.

“Yeah, I guess that would be pretty cool," a student says. "I don't know if he'd be that good at twerking, though."

Cochran even gets the school choir to sing a little something to get Ferrell to come to the prom: “Say you’ll go …. Say you’ll go, so he (Cochran) will stop bothering us.”

Cochran clarified in his first video that he is happily married with two children and two dogs, but his wife won’t be able to attend his prom. So he wants Ferrell to keep him company.

"If you ever feel uncomfortable on the dance floor you can just say 'spumoni,'" Cochran said in the video.

His deadline to Ferrell for a response – May 10, the day of the prom.
