DeAndre Gets City Hall Honor

San Jose senior the talk of the town.

The San Jose City Council on Tuesday honored "American Idol" finalist DeAndre Brackensick, a superstar senior at Oak Grove High School.

The San Jose teen received an official council commendation at a 1 p.m. ceremony in the City Hall Rotunda.

DeAndre is a falsetto-powered 17-year-old, who was voted off the popular show a couple of weeks ago. But he made it to the Top Ten, which means he will part of the American Idol concert tour later this summer.

Because he was back home instead of getting ready for tomorrow night's competition, he was able to take part in another very important date this past weekend: His prom, according to E-online.

Not only that, but DeAndre has high school graduation to look forward to in a few weeks.

He told the Mercury News the highlight of his Idol journey wasmeeting his R&B hero, Eric Benet. He said he is now more determined that ever to make a career in show biz as either a singer, an actor or a model.
