20 Years Later, Body Found Floating in Ocean Identified as Missing Teen

It's taken two decades, but authorities have identified the teenage boy whose body was found floating in the Pacific Ocean near Monterey.

A DNA hit has matched the "partial body" found off of Asilomar State Beach in 1995 as a Santa Barbara teen who was reported missing that year, according to the Monterey County Herald.

The name of the boy, 17, was not publicly released. His family was notified of the identification on Dec. 30, 2014, the newspaper reported.

It's not known how he died or how his body came to be found in the Central Coast.
