Dog Returned After Being Stolen at Knifepoint in SF

A dog stolen at knifepoint from a flower shop in San Francisco was safely back home with its owner Monday night.

Workers at A New Leaf florist on Franklin Street say a man came into the shop Saturday afternoon demanding money. The man pulled a knife when an employee told him there was no money. The suspect then grabbed a dog named Sydney that was inside the store.

"My first reaction was to chase him, but he had a knife," the employee said. "He could have done something to the dog. I didn't want to risk the dog."

Police searched the area for the suspect and the dog but didn't find them. Several hours later, someone spotted Sydney wandering alone and called the number on the dog's tag.
