A San Jose man attending the California Republican Party convention has died after collapsing on the dance floor at a post-convention party.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Doug McNea, head of the Silicon Valley Taxpayers Association, was rushed to the hospital late Saturday night after collapsing at a party at the Sheraton Hotel in Sacramento.
California Republican Party spokesman Mark Standriff confirmed Sunday that McNea died overnight.
McNea, a nuclear energy consultant and U.S. Navy veteran, was a three-time Republican candidate for state Assembly.
Speaking through a spokesman Sunday, Rep. Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield, the party's host, told the Chronicle that McNea was a man committed to his country whose work to protect taxpayers would not be forgotten.
