Downtown Campbell Home Damaged by Fire

The Santa Clara County Fire Department is investigating the cause of a 1-alarm fire that damaged a single-family home this afternoon near downtown Campbell, according to a battalion chief.

Firefighters were dispatched to Maple Avenue near Poplar Avenue about two blocks north of downtown Campbell at 2:38 p.m. and saw flames from a back bedroom, Battalion Chief Kendall Pearson said.

They knocked the fire down in about five minutes and no one was reported injured.

The damage to the unoccupied home was to the bedroom and its contents, although smoke damaged the rest of the interior of the home, Pearson said.

The occupants of the house were not home at the time of the fire.

The department's fire investigator is trying to discover what caused the blaze, Pearson said.
