‘They Just Appear And It's a Frenzy': Dozens of Rats Infest Vallejo Neighborhood

Dozens of very brazen rats have infested an entire block of Vallejo and neighbors say no matter what they do, they can't seem to run them out.

A North Bay neighborhood is dealing with a serious pest problem.

Dozens of very brazen rats have infested an entire block of Vallejo and neighbors say no matter what they do, they can't seem to run them out. The problem is so bad, the normally nocturnal rodents are even coming out during the day.

Becky Pearson is feeling desperate after what she describes as "huge" infesting her Vallejo yard.

"I'm like where are they coming from?" Pearson said. "They just appear and it's a frenzy."

Pearson's daughter could not believe her eyes when she saw them for herself. She has taken videos of the vermin hanging outin the trees and basically taking the area over.

And it's just not Pearson's place. The rodents have settled in up and down the street.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified even trapped one early Friday. He said he has no idea how to get rid of them because "there's too many."

The resident said the rats routinely make nests in his car engine and has to clean them out daily. But no matter how he tries to wipe them out, it does not work.

"Once they see I'm catching them on way, they'll change up on me completely," the resident said. "So I have to change again. The rat bait don't even work at all. Don't waste your money on it."

Meanwhile, Pearson said the city told her the drought is to blame, but she cannot stand much more. She wants the rats out.
