    Car Goes Over Cliff, Starts Brush Fire in Los Gatos

    A driver was injured after his car went over a cliff, flipped over and started a brush fire on Shannon Road and Santa Rosa Drive in Los Gatos Friday afternoon, officials said.

    A driver suffered moderate injuries after a vehicle went over a 100-foot embankment Friday afternoon on Shannon Road at Santa Rosa Drive in Los Gatos.

    Firefighters from the Santa Clara County Fire Department, alerted before 4:30 p.m. by a Midpeninsula Regional Open Space employee, found that a fire had started in the vehicle and had spread to vegetation.

    The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was located and taken to the roadway before being taken to the hospital.

    The fire threatened one structure in the area but was quickly contained and personnel remained at the scene to fully extinguish and clean up the area.

    The cause of the accident is undetermined.
