Driver Kills Man on Segway

    The Segway is a popular motorized device.

    A driver crashed into a man riding a Segway through a Morgan Hill crosswalk Sunday night, killing him.

    Marschelle Syverson, 72, of San Jose, was found unconscious in the road and died later at the hospital, according to the Morgan Hill Police Department.

    The collision happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Butterfield Blvd. and Jarvis Drive.

    The driver of the car was identified by witnesses as 83-year-old Dick Chappell of Los Gatos.

    Chappell was arrested on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, as well as a felony D.U.I.
