Drunk Driver Kills Pedestrian, Flees the San Carlos Scene: Police

A 53-year-old man died Saturday in San Carlos following an alcohol-related hit and run crash.

The suspect, driving a white Ford F150, drifted onto the shoulder of the road near 2100 San Carlos Avenue and slammed into the pedestrian, police said. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10:30 p.m. The suspect then fled in his car, police said. 

Officers investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash deduced that the driver was Randall Rubingh of San Carlos. They tracked him down to a Safeway parking lot, where he was arrested for felony hit and run, felony DUI and vehicular masnalughter. 

He was booked into San Mateo County Jail.
