Dublin Officer Shoots, Kills Assailant: Police

A Dublin police officer was involved in a fatal shooting this morning at around 1:30a.m.

The Alameda County Sheriff's office, which administers the Dublin police department, told NBC Bay Area the officer, a 20-year veteran, confronted a "suspicious" man in a lightly traveled area of Dublin.

The man then attacked the officer, beating her in the head and allegedly pounding her head against the pavement.

The officer then shot the suspect, who later died. The suspect had a history of fighting, according to police.
