Early Voting Begins as Candidates Continue Campaigning

Early voting has begun in some areas, including Santa Clara County, where polling stations opened Tuesday, four weeks ahead of the Nov. 8 election.

County registrar officials are urging voters to get their ballots in early. And some are.

"My decision is already made," San Jose resident Bob Gill said.

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 24 and the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot is Nov. 1, according to the Santa Clara County Registrar's Office. The vote-by-mail period is Oct. 10 through Nov. 1.

Meanwhile, Republican nominee Donald Trump lashed out at his own party Tuesday after many GOP leaders pulled their support in the wake of the candidate’s vulgar comments about women.

"It's a troubling situation," House Speaker Paul Ryan said. "It's serious."

Trump replied with a tweet: "Despite winning the second debate in a landslide (every poll), it is hard to do well when Paul Ryan and others give zero support."

According to the final post-debate NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, Hillary Clinton has a 9-point lead over Trump.

Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) also pulled his support for Trump, saying he just could not vote for him. Republicans Chris Christie and Rudy Guiliani are maintaining their support.

On the other side, former Vice President Al Gore stepped out for the first time to support Clinton in Miami, reminding people that he won the popular vote but lost the election in 2000.

"Take it from me: Every single vote counts," he said.
