E. Palo Alto Police Investigate 4 Shootings in One Week

Police hoping people will leave crime tips on hotline

Police in East Palo Alto are investigating a shooting that left one person wounded late Tuesday morning -- the fourth injury shooting reported in the city in the past week.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired near the 1400 block of Bay Road at about 11:45 a.m., according to East Palo Alto police.

One person was injured and taken to a hospital, police said. About a half dozen officers remained at the scene this afternoon, combing through a neighborhood adjacent to Palo Verde Avenue.

There was no immediate information on any suspects, police said. Investigators were trying to determine if the incident was related to three other shootings that occurred in East Palo Alto since last Wednesday.

On Sunday night, a 49-year-old Menlo Park man was shot multiple times as he sat in his car in the 2200 block of Addison Avenue.

The man was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, police said. Last Wednesday, officers responded to two separate shootings, the first of which was reported in the 1700 block of Tulane Avenue at about 5 p.m.

Police did not find a victim at the scene, but a short time later, a 28-year-old Daly City man walked into a local hospital seeking treatment for two gunshot wounds to his lower body.

The second shooting was reported about four hours later, when shots were fired in the 2600 block of Farrington Way at about 8:55 p.m., police said.

A 26-year-old man had been wounded in his leg. He was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive. Anyone with information about any of the shootings is urged to contact police at (650) 321-1112.
