Ex-Swim Coach Impregnated 14-Year-Old: Court Papers

A former swim coach who pleaded no contest to child molestation is now accused of getting one of the victims pregnant when she was just 14 years old, according to court documents.

Andrew King, the former head coach of the San Jose Aquatics, worked closely with elite athletes who had Olympic potential. Too closely.

King had a special attraction to girls ages 10 to 17, gave them gifts, bought them dinner and took them for rides, earlier court documents detailed. He even asked some of them to marry him, the Mercury News reports.

Police say one of his victims told them she had an abortion and never told anyone until she told police earlier this year as part of the investigation.

One of the most disturbing points about this case is that King might have been stopped years ago.

"The warning signs were everywhere," Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Ray Mendoza said. King has been molesting girls he's coached for 31 years, Mendoza alleges.

Investigators had looked into complaints about King twice before. Once in Contra Costa County and once in Washington. He was never questioned in either case.

King remains in jail on $3 million bail and awaits sentencing. Mendoza is looking to put King behind bars for the maximum -- 42 years.
