Experts Teach Dating Lesson in the City

A lesson in life will the subject in San Francisco this Tuesday.

Several organizations are hosting an event this week in San Francisco to raise awareness about abuse in teen relationships and encourage Bay Area teenagers to seek help.

The California Adolescent Health Collaborative, U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the INOBTR and Project Youth Safety are hosting the event.

At Tuesday's 11 a.m. event at the Raoul Wallenberg Traditional High School, located at 40 Vega St., health care professionals and community organizations will discuss teen dating violence so they can better prevent it, according to organizers.

The organizations hosting the event say nearly one in three teens who have been in relationships have experienced dating violence or abuse but may be afraid to speak up.

They believe the launch of this campaign will encourage local youth to recognize signs of abuse in their own relationships and the relationships around them.
