Bomb Disguised as Newspaper Hurts Man

One person was hurt Sunday when some kind of device that was disguised in a newspaper exploded outside a home in Vacaville, according to police.

This happened in a Browns Valley neighborhood around 10 a.m.

KCRA in Sacramento talked to a witness who said the man was hit by a bomb-like device we he went to pick up his Sunday morning paper.

That man was airlifted to a hospital although the extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.

Investigators used reverse 911 calls to evacuate nearby homes and were telling people within a half-mile radius of the explosion not to approach any package or item delivered Sunday morning.

Police on the scene would not describe the device in detail, but told reporters it was not a pipe bomb or an acid bomb.

The bomb squad searched the area and declared it "clear" by 3 p.m.
