FBI Fans Out in Sex Predator Probe

FBI coordinates 2-day sting across Northern California

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- More than two dozen people across Northern California were arrested as part of a two-day sting targeting child predators and pornographers, the FBI said Thursday.

About 150 officers in Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, El Dorado and Placer counties made 196 contacts during the sweep.

From their investigation, 28 arrested were made and 30 computers were seized. The FBI said investigators also seized several digital cameras, cell phones, hard drives, CDs, DVDs and floppy disks.

"The federal, state, and local agencies are to be lauded for their coordinated enforcement of many of these tools in our region over the past two days," U.S. Attorney Lawrence Brown said in a release.

Investigators made contact with subjects of active sex crime-related investigations, people on parole or probation for sex crimes and people who are required to register as sex offenders with the state.
