A Facebook page supporting ex-Stanford swimmer Brock Turner has emerged and has garnered more than 6,300 likes. But Turner's attorney says it's a troll page, and Brock's family is not connected to it.
The latest post on the page titled "Brock Turner Family Support" came on June 17 and says the convicted sexual assailant is "the real victim" while calling the woman he assaulted a "coward" for not publicly coming forward and for reading a victim impact statement in the courtroom.
Turner was convicted of sexually assaulting the woman after a fraternity party on the Stanford campus. He was facing a maximum of 10 years in prison for his crime, and prosecutors had asked for six years in prison. But Judge Aaron Persky gave him six months in county jail and three years probation. Persky has since been vilified for being far too lenient and is the subject of a growing recall effort.
Another post on the page supporting Turner says, "It is almost mind-numbing, the lengths a few deviants would go to tarnish our son, our family's name, because of their jealousy. Because of his athletic ability, intelligence, charisma and charm."
The page suggests some of the posts have been written by Turner's parents, as there are multiple references to "our son." But attorney Mike Armstrong said the family is not administering the page and is not connected to the page in any way.
