Fairfield Murder Suspect Arrested By SWAT Team

A man suspected of the April 19 murder of a man who showed up at Northbay Medical Center with a gunshot wound was arrested by a SWAT team in Fairfield Friday, police said today.

Jason Thompson, 21, is suspected of killing Gustavo Banda, 27, who showed up at the hospital shot at 10:42 p.m. April 19 along with a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The boy survived but Banda succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Police identified Thompson as a suspect and the SWAT team served a search warrant Friday in a home at 333 Vel Place in Fairfield.

Thompson was arrested along with Malik Howse, 20, who is believed to be an accessory to the shooting.

Police said "numerous" other suspects were also detained but did not specify how many or why. Police also confiscated two handguns.

Thompson was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and outstanding warrants, police said. Howse was booked on suspicion of being an accessory and possession of a stolen firearm.
