Family and friends remembered firefighters who died in the line of duty in Contra Costa County.
The Fire Protection District held a public ceremony Sunday morning to honor fallen firefighters
The memorial wall contains the names of the 16 firefighters killed in the past 45 years.
"It gives us a chance to remember the 16 people who given their lives in service to the community of Contra Costa County," Fire Captain Robert Marshall said. "It's always hard to remember something like this because a lot of these people we lost way too soon."
The fire district says all 16 firefighters on the wall died in the pursuit of public safety for their community.
