A family of four was rescued Saturday afternoon from a boat that ran aground in Suisun Bay north of Concord in Solano County, a U.S. Coast Guard spokeswoman said.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Sarah Wilson of the Coast Guard's Base Alameda said the call came in from the family at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday saying their 22-foot boat had run aground in Suisun Bay not far from the docks of the Military Ocean Terminal Concord.

Coast Guard personnel from San Francisco and Vallejo, along with Solano County Sheriff's personnel, responded. Personnel aboard a Coast Guard helicopter lifted each of the four riders in the boat — a mom, a dad and two kids — into the copter and took them a few miles to Buchanan Field in Concord, Wilson said. None of the boat passengers was injured, she added.

"It was a big community effort, to be sure, to make sure these people were taken care of," Wilson said.

Coast Guard crews will monitor the boat, which didn't appear to sustain any significant damage, to make sure it doesn't start drifting when the tide is high, Wilson said.
