Jack in the Box Hostage Standoff Over

Suspect shot, hostages freed unharmed at Sacramento Jack in the Box

Police had a Sacramento Jack in the Box surrounded Saturday afternoon after a robbery turned into a hostage situation.

The situation was tense for about three hours, but ended with the hostages getting out unharmed.

Sacramento police said they shot the suspect. Reporters on the scene said he was taken out on a stretcher and to a waiting ambulance, but his condition was not immediately available.

Officers said they were called to the fast food restaurant on Folsom Boulevard on a report of a robbery.

Investigators said a man, possibly armed, told them he had a hostage.

Police said he actually had two female hostages held in the building for a time, but both were able to get out of the building unharmed, according to KCRA. Both women worked at the Jack in the Box.

Officials said a SWAT team was also called to the scene.

It's unclear how the armed robbery escalated into a hostage situation.

The scene has now been reclassified as an officer-involved shooting.
