Oakland police responded to an early-morning fatal shooting at a marijuana-grow operation in Chinatown on Monday.

Police said the caretaker at a duplex near Webster and 7th streets said three men broke into the operation where pot was being grown, just two blocks down from the police department.

The caretaker of the apartment then allegedly fired at one of the suspects, and killed him, police said. Two suspects are still outstanding.

One of the suspects shot a dog, police said.

This was Oakland's 68th homicide of the year.
