A person was fatally shot in West Oakland this morning, a police officer said.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Ninth and Clay streets at about 3 a.m., Officer Kevin McDonald said.
When officers arrived, they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound, McDonald said.
The victim, whose age and gender was not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
No suspect was found at the scene, McDonald said.
As of 3:45 a.m., detectives were at the scene investigating the shooting, McDonald said.
