A four-alarm brush fire damaged three homes and prompted evacuations in Fairfield late Friday afternoon, authorities said.
No injuries were reported in the wind-driven fire, which forced the evacuation of 15 homes on the 200 block of Santa Barbara Way. The blaze was first reported spreading behind homes around 4 p.m.
Fire crews were able to contain the blaze at about 6 p.m.
Police and fire officials are looking into whether the fire was started by homeless living along a nearby bike path. The cause is under investigation.
