Brush Fires Prompt Evacuations in Contra Costa County Neighborhoods

Several fires in Contra Costa County triggered evacuations early Sunday.

In Oakley, evacuations were ordered along Knightsen Avenue. Residents between Cypress and Delta roads, and west of Sellars Avenue were also told to evacuate.

Another brush fire in Oakley's Summerlake neighborhood also forced evacuations between Sandmount Boulevard and Bethel Island Road.

Both the evacuation orders in Oakley were lifted before 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, Cal Fire issued evacuations near Leon Drive in Clayton. Officials advise residents to head towards Marsh Creek Road in Clayton.

"With several fires burning in East County, if you are in danger, regardless of location, don't wait, evacuate," the county Fire Protection District said in an advisory. "Fire danger is high, report all to 911 immediately."

Residents should visit the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Community Warning System website for updates.
