Firefighters Battling Growing Brush Fire in Martinez

    Firefighters are working to contain a growing brush fire at the edge of Martinez's city limits, according to a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District official.

    The fire was reported near Rankin Park in Martinez shortly before 4 p.m., Fire Capt. George Laing said.

    At about 4:30 p.m., Laing said the blaze had grown to five acres. He said air resources were being recruited to help battle the growing blaze.
