2-Alarm Fire Destroys 4 Homes Under Construction in Dublin

Burned out shells are all that's left after flames ripped through several homes under construction in Dublin Monday night.

Firefighters were still at The Preserve at Jordan Ranch housing development Tuesday morning watching for hot spots.

Four homes under construction were destroyed in a two-alarm blaze, according to the Alameda County Fire Department

The fire was reported just after 9 p.m. in the area of Vinton Avenue and Kinsley Street, near the Fallon Road exit off Interstate 580. Fire officials said the department's dispatch center received reports of smoke and flames visible from an area where homes are under construction.

Fire crews from Livermore also assisted in the response. Firefighters were able to keep the blaze away from homes that are complete in the area.

The first arriving crew quickly called for a second-alarm response to make sure the blaze did not spread to neighboring homes that were completely built, Alameda County fire Division Chief Chip Anderson said.

No one was inside the involved homes when firefighters arrived, according to Anderson. The blaze was under control around 9:45 p.m., he said. At least two of the four destroyed homes were two stories high, Anderson said.

Firefighters also spent time putting out a couple of grass fires nearby sparked by embers blown across by the wind.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
