A morning walk on the beach with her husband and her dogs ended tragically for a Northern California woman Thursday.
Witnesses say the woman drowned after she went into the water after her dog.
State Parks Public Safety Superintendent Jenny Donovan told Bay City news the unidentified woman was actually walking with two dogs, both pugs, early Friday morning on Portuguese Beach, north of Bodega Bay, when one of the dogs when into the water.
The woman, who went it after it, was quickly caught in the surf. She washed ashore lifeless and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Donovan.
The dog also died. The pug washed ashore several hours later.
