Former Cal Swimmer Dana Vollmer Heads to Olympic Games in Rio

Danville's Dana Vollmer is on her way to the Olympic Games in Rio.

During Monday night's trials, the former Cal swimmer finished her 100-meter fly in 57.21 seconds, coming in second and just behind first-time Olympian Kelsi Worrell.

Vollmer, who won three gold medals at the London Games, previously left the pool to take on a new challenge: motherhood.

And now just 15 months after her son was born, Vollmer is back on the road to Rio.

The super mom tells NBC Bay Area how she did it in the video report above.
