Tour rookie Mark Hubbard proposed to his girlfriend Meghan McCurley on the 18th hole during the first round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am Thursday.
The PGA Tour was in on Hubbard's secret. They allowed Hubbard, a former golfer for San Jose State University, to broadcast his question to Curley, a former Spartans swimmer, on the scoreboard at Pebble Beach.
Hubbard popped the question right after making par, getting down on his knees with the ring.
"Her mom had the idea when I asked her dad for permission," Hubbard told ESPN. "She just thought it would be cool to include golf, and we've been together for so long I felt like I had to do something different than just take her out to dinner or something. So it just kind of all clicked."
Thanks to everyone for all the congratulations and good wishes! You all are the best! What a crazy day! Now it's time to make some birdies!! — Mark Hubbard (@HomelessHubbs) February 13, 2015
