Found Foot Belongs to Missing San Bruno Man

DNA testing used to identify foot that washed up in Pacifica

Police have identified the partial leg and foot that was discovered on a Pacifica beach, as that of a San Bruno man who went missing in March, reports the Merc.

Investigators used DNA comparison samples from his family to confirm that it belonged to 27-year-old Joseph McHenry who was last known to be camping and hiking in the area.

The case is "for all intents and purposes closed," said San Bruno police Lt. Geoff Caldwell.

Investigators do not know what happened to the rest of McHenry, but the coroner's office cannot declare him dead without more evidence or a court order.

McHenry was reported missing on March 5.
