Fremont Police Asking for Help Identifying Suspect in Attempted Robbery

Police released images of a suspect in an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred Wednesday and asking for the public's help in identifying the person, police said.

Police said a man tried to steal a necklace off a woman who lives in the 38000 block of Riverbank Terrace just before 5 p.m.

The suspect drove past the woman's house three times after she had parked her car in the driveway. When the suspect tried to take the necklace, the victim fought back and the suspect ran away, according to police.

Police are describing the suspect as a Hispanic or Filipino man with a light to medium complexion in his early- to mid-20s.

He is between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium athletic build and weighs 165 to 175 pounds. The man has short dark hair and a dark mustache and was wearing black shorts and a red short-sleeve shirt.

The suspect was driving a gold, 4-door Honda Accord with the rear windows tinted, according to police. Police said the car may be a 2001 or 2002 model with 7-spoke alloy rims.

Police said the car does not have a front license plate and police don't know what the rear license plate number is.

Police are asking anyone that recognizes the man or has information about the case to get in touch with Officer Valdes at jvaldes@fremont.gov, at (510) 790-6800 and choose option three.
