Fresno police have made more than a dozen arrests in what they say was a crackdown on Asian gangs following a fatal shooting last month.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Thursday 19 people have been taken into custody and a dozen firearms seized in recent weeks.
The arrests and seizures follow the Oct. 20 shooting death of 22-year-old alleged gang member Aushoun Simmons.
Dyer says Simmons was killed because he refused to carry out orders to shoot somebody else. His death sparked a series of retaliatory shootings involving the Southeast Asian gangs.
According to the Fresno Bee, among those arrested were a 15-year-old boy and his 40-year old father.
