From haunted houses to pumpkin patches, San Mateo County is the site of Halloween-inspired events all month. Whether your checking off a bucket list or just looking for an event to enjoy this weekend, here are some events and Halloween spectacles happening all month:
Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival
The weekend after the weigh-off event, a massive pumpkin festival is held in the historic downtown district. The event includes competitions, games and interesting foods.
Dates: Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16
Time: 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.

38th Annual Pumpkin Run in Half Moon Bay
The event will include a Pumpkin Power 5k Obstacle Challenge, 5k and 10k Run, 5K Walk and a 'Kids Fun Run' for children under 12 years old. Those interested in registering for a race can do so here.

The Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off 2016
Pumpkin Picking and Activities at the Pumpkin Farms
The pumpkin patches in Half Moon Bay offer activities ranging from haunted barns to pony rides. From the two-acre Minotaur’s Labyrinth Hay Maze at Arata's Pumpkin Farm to the Bernese mountain dogs at Farmer John's pumpkin farm, each has its own unique experience. Scare on the Square
A massive community celebration in downtown Redwood City is held annually with a parade, pumpkin contest, haunted maze and trick-or-treating at local businesses. If you have a talent for decorating pumpkins, there’s a $100 cash prize for the best submitted pumpkin. More details on the festivities can be found here.

Monster Bash at the Sandwich Spot
The Sandwich Shop in Redwood City is holding a “Monster Bash” on Hallows Eve with a DJ and costume contest.

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Every first Saturday, Guild Theatre shows the Rocky Picture Show, but for Halloween the theater has a special showing later this month. Tickets can be found on the website.

Spooky Carnival
In its 8th year, Menlo Park continues to bring families out for an annual carnival to celebrate the fall occasion.

Trick-or-Treat and Carnival
Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce and Cheeky Monkey Toys is bringing neighbors out for the annual Trick-or-Treat in downtown Menlo Park with participating businesses. Nearby, Fremont Park will be the site of carnival games, crafts and a magic show according to the website.

“Nightmare on Cedar Street” in Montara
The neighbors on Montara's Cedar Street have the Halloween spirit as they transform their homes into a haunted house, lights, outdoor horror films and more.

Murder Mystery Dinner Theatres
Some locals say the Moss Beach Distillery is haunted. You can head out for drink or dinner on any average night, or join one of the other themed dinner parties around the peninsula.
