Funeral For Slain Hercules Teacher

A funeral is set to be held Friday for a retired second-grade Hercules teacher who was violently stabbed to death earlier this month in her home.

The service for Susie Ko, 55, is scheduled for 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Rodeo, with a burial to follow in Oakland. Her four children and  husband have created a website, welovesusieko, that has all the details and updates about he horrific murder Oct. 5.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with her death; though they are now in Washington state, held on other charges - most notably, they are accused of breaking out of a San Bernadino County jail in August, shooting a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy in El Monte, and carjacking several vehicles.

Darnell Washington, 24, and his wife, Tania, 25, were arrested Oct. 5 at gunpoint in the city of SeaTac,a suburb of Seattle. Police there said they found the couple's in Ko's missing family Subaru, which was the original key link to her death, police said. Why they allegedly stopped at Ko's home in Hercules and allegedly killed her, has not been spelled out. All police have said is that the Washingtons are suspected of participating in a crime spree that stretched across parts of the West Coast.

The couple has yet to be extradited to Contra County County.
