Gas Pipeline Ruptures in Rio Vista

A shut off valve helped put the fire out.

A gas pipeline ruptured Friday evening in Rio Vista, causing large flames to shoot into the air.

The 8-inch gas line ruptured around 6 p.m. in the middle of an empty field near the intersection of Highway 160 and 112, KCRA reported. It burned for about 20 minutes before it was put out.

The gas company was able to close off the valve and no structures were damaged.

Vintage productions owns the pipeline, not PG&E.
