A giant tarantula hanging on the side of a new parking garage — and its price tag — have caught the eye of many Morgan Hill residents.
The giant spider is one piece of a two-piece public art display totaling $425,000.
The cost of the art piece is included in the cost for the $12 million, 273-space parking structure being built on Fourth street in Downtown Morgan Hill.
The tarantula was created by artist Gordon Huether out of Napa, California. The body of the spider is made of headlights.
A wall of "poppy jasper" art glass is the second art piece scheduled to enclose the parking structure stair well next week, weather permitting.
F&H Construction is expected to complete th eparking project by the end of the month.
