Gov. Jerry Brown appointed three judges to the Santa Clara and Monterey county superior courts on Thursday.
Acting Santa Clara County Counsel Lori Pegg, 52, of San Jose, and University of California lawyer Sunil Kulkarni, 41, of Palo Alto, will join the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
Pegg has worked in the county counsel's office since 2001 and began serving as acting county counsel this year. She previously worked for several private law firms after receiving her law degree from Santa Clara University.
Kulkarni has been a senior counsel for the University of California since 2011. He previously graduated from UC's Hastings College of the Law and worked for the law firm of Morrison & Foerster.
Brown named Carrie McIntyre Panetta, 46, who is currently an Alameda County Superior Court judge, to the Monterey County Superior Court.
Panetta, a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, worked as a deputy Alameda County district attorney before being appointed to the Alameda County Superior Court in 2007. She currently serves as that court's criminal executive judge.
Panetta is a daughter-in-law of former U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.
