Gov. Brown Heads to Washington

Brown heads to Washington for meeting of governors

Gov. Jerry Brown is in Washington, D.C., this weekend for the annual meeting of the National Governors Association.

Implementing the federal health care reforms is among the topics the governors will discuss. Brown also is co-chairman of the group's natural resources committee, which will meet Sunday to discuss planning for extreme weather events.

Most of the meetings are closed to the media.

Brown's spokesman, Evan Westrup, says the gathering is an opportunity for the Democratic governor "to build relationships with other governors and hear what's going on in other states.''

The governors are expected to meet Monday with President Barack Obama.
