Firefighter Suffers Sprained Ankle in 5-Acre San Martin Grass Fire

A firefighter suffered a sprained ankle while battling a 5-acre grass fire in San Martin Monday afternoon, according to a Cal Fire division chief. Firefighters contained the grass fire by 3 p.m.

Firefighters responded to a report of a grass fire at the corner of Santa Teresa Boulevard and California Avenue around 2:20 p.m., Cal Fire Division Chief Jamie Norton said.

At about 3 p.m., the blaze was 75 percent contained, Norton said.

Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to two nearby structures, according to Norton.

Two air tankers and one helicopter took part in the operation.
