Gray's Return Spoiled, A's Swept in Houston

Sonny Gray left with a 2-1 lead, but the Astros scored four times against the A's bullpen Sunday to complete their first-ever home sweep of Oakland with a 5-2 win at Minute Maid Park.

Making his first start since May 20, Gray gave up five hits and one earned run in five innings. He walked one and struck out five.

The A's broke through early against Astros starter Lance McCullers, scoring two runs in the first inning on a single by Yonder Alonso.

Gray was cruising until Carlos Gomez teed off on a solo home run in the fifth. He finished the inning and was removed after throwing 68 pitches.

Daniel Coulombe relaeved Gray and promptly gave up the lead in the sixth, courtesy of another Evan Gattis home run. The Astros catcher homered in all three games of the series.

Houston took a 3-2 lead in the seventh when Carlos Correa drove in George Springer with a double down the left field line.

The Astros increased their lead to 5-2 with two runs off Mark Rzepczynski. Gomez chopped a ball over first and legged out a double. He moved to third on a wild pitch. After Jake Marisnick walked, Gomez scored on a groundout to shortstop by Springer. Jose Altuve and Correa drew walks to load the bases. Marisnick scored on an error by Rzepczynski to give the Astros a 5-2 lead.
