Gunman Takes Aim Near Popular East Bay Mall

Authorities have extended a shelter-in-place in Pleasant Hill two more hours today as police work to apprehend a suspect who reportedly fired shots near a mall Sunday morning. The shots were fired at about 10:50 a.m. on Aubrey Lane near the Sunvalley Mall. No officers have been injured. A reporter on the scene said he heard a single shot around 12:30 pm. It was not clear who fired the gun. The shelter-in-place is for residents on Christine and Audrey courts, as well as on Audrey and Baylor lanes, and is effect until at least 6 p.m., police said. People in these areas have been advised to go inside and close all windows and doors. Residents should also try to stay off the phone except for emergency purposes. Both directions of Contra Costa Boulevard between Golf Club Road and Taylor Boulevard have been closed. Baylor and Audrey lanes were also closed to vehicles and pedestrians.
