A Tennyson High School student in Hayward has been diagnosed with tuberculosis, a bacteria that attacks the lungs, kidneys, spine or brain.
Hayward school district Superintendent Stan Dobbs told parents in a letter Monday that the unidentified student tested positive for the contagious airborne disease.
The student will not be returning to school until cleared by the Alameda County Public Health Department.
