Heald College, WyoTech To Be Sold In Bay Area

For-profit college system to rid itself of Bay Area campuses.

Corinthian Colleges is getting out of the school business in the Bay Area.

The for-profit institutions of Heald College, part of troubled Corinthian Colleges Inc.'s stable of schools, is to be sold along with Fremont's WyoTech as part of Corinthian's "going-out-of-business plan," according to reports.

The Mercury News reports that the school is planning to sell 85 of its 97 college campuses and sell the rest.

There are Heald College campuses in Concord, San Jose, San Francisco, Hayward, and Stockton, the newspaper reported.

What will happen to the students there is still not clear, and may depend on who buys the schools -- and how, the newspaper reported.

Corinthian is still under investigation from attorneys general for allegedly lying to prospective students and faking records, the newspaper reported.

It's already been cut off from federal student loans for three weeks for not cooperating with investigators.
