Petaluma's Lagunitas Brewing Co. has entered into a partnership with Heineken.
Lagunitas founder Tony Magee revealed to The Press Democrat that the Dutch brewing giant is now the company's 50-50 partner, but it would not change the "soul" of his business. He would not disclose the monetary amount exchanged, but sources told the publication that Lagunitas is worth around $1 billion.
The Heineken partnership will allow Lagunitas to be a part of Heineken's distribution network as well as its production facilities.
“This alliance with the world's most international brewer represents a profound victory for American craft,” Magee told SFGate. “It will open doors that had previously been shut and bring the U.S. craft beer vibe to communities all over the world.”
