There has been so much rain in the past week its hard to keep track of exactly how many storms we've been through and how many are still ahead in the forecast. But whatever the number, the Bay Area is in for another wallop of rain Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
The latest storm is on the wild side and is supposed to take direct aim at the North Bay. The system is very unsettled, so there is a chance of a downpour across the entire region and we could also see thunder and lightning. If anyone has been sparred from the rainy week, it might be the South Bay, but that does not include the Santa Cruz mountains. Ben Lomond's rain gauge is at ten inches and climbing.
Thursday and Friday is supposed to be somewhat dry with yet another weather system bearing down on the Bay Area on Christmas Day.
It's bad here, but the weather is much worse in Southern California. Meteorologists are blaming something they call an "atmospheric river" for an extremely wet and wild weather pattern down there.
The southland has seen six straight days of heavy rain with another big day of rain in Wednesday's forecast. Rivers are holding, but just barely.
The bad weather is hitting several parts of the country and making for huge flight delays pretty much everywhere.
San Francisco International Airport has had a ground delay program in effect for arriving flights for the past several days. Lots of arrivals have also been delayed by hours in some cases.
Local
San Jose and Oakland have also seen delays, but not nearly as bad and most if not all of them are because of bad weather in other cities and not in San Jose or Oakland.
